Getting Started
How to Create Your First Debt
- Open the app and tap the "+" button in the top right corner
- Fill in the required fields:
- Title: Give your debt a name (e.g., "Laptop sale")
- Contact: Enter the person or company name
- Amount: Enter the debt amount
- Direction: Choose "I'm owed" or "I owe"
- Category: Select a category to organize your debt
- Optionally set a due date, enable reminders, and add notes
- Tap "Save" to create your debt
Understanding Debt Directions
- I'm owed (Receivable): Money others owe you
- I owe (Payable): Money you owe to others
The app uses color coding: green for receivables, orange for payables.

Managing Debts
Creating a New Debt
- Tap the "+" button on the main screen
- Fill in all required fields (title, contact, amount)
- Choose direction, category, and currency
- Set optional due date and enable reminders
- Add notes for additional context
- Tap "Save"
Editing a Debt
- Open the debt from the main list
- Tap "Edit" in the top right corner
- Make your changes
- Tap "Save"
Deleting a Debt
- Open the debt details
- Scroll to "Danger zone"
- Tap "Delete debt"
- Confirm deletion
Note: Deleting a debt also deletes all associated payments and installments.
Payment Tracking
Adding a Payment
- Open a debt from the main list
- In the "Payments" section, tap "Add payment"
- Enter the payment amount
- Select the payment date (defaults to today)
- Optionally add a note
- Tap "Save"
The app automatically updates:
- Total paid amount
- Remaining balance
- Progress bar
- Settlement status (if fully paid)
Viewing Payment History
- Open any debt to see all payments
- Payments are sorted by date (newest first)
- Each payment shows amount, date, and notes
Deleting a Payment
- Open the debt details
- Find the payment in the "Payments" section
- Tap the trash icon next to the payment
- The remaining balance updates automatically
Installment Planning
Creating an Installment
- Open a debt
- In the "Installments" section, tap "Add installment"
- Enter:
- Title (e.g., "Monthly payment")
- Amount
- Due date
- Optional note
- Enable reminder if desired
- Tap "Save"
Marking an Installment as Paid
- Open the debt with installments
- Find the installment in the list
- Tap the circle icon to mark it as paid
- The app automatically creates a payment record
- The remaining balance updates
Managing Installments
- Edit: Tap "Edit" on any installment
- Delete: Tap "Delete" on any installment
- Toggle Reminder: Use the reminder button on unpaid installments

Setting Up Reminders for Debts
- Create or edit a debt
- Enable "Due date"
- Select a date
- Toggle "Reminder" on
- Save the debt
You will receive notifications:
- One day before the due date
- On the due date

- Create an installment
- Enable "Reminder" when creating
- You will be notified one day before and on the due date
Managing Reminders
- Toggle reminders on/off from the debt detail page
- Reminders are automatically cancelled when:
- A debt is marked as settled
- An installment is marked as paid
- A debt is deleted

Filtering by Category
- On the main screen, tap the filter icon in the top left
- Select a category to filter
- Tap "All" to clear the filter
Changing a Debt's Category
- Edit the debt
- Select a new category from the dropdown
- Save

- On the main screen, use the search bar below the summary cards
- Type keywords to search:
- Debt titles
- Contact names
- Category names
- Notes
Search Tips
- Search is case-insensitive
- Works with partial matches
- Combine with category filters for precise results
Statistics & Analytics
Viewing Statistics
- Open the "Statistics" tab
- View:
- Summary cards (total owed, receivable, overdue, active)
- Category breakdown chart
- Monthly payment trend chart
- Top counterparties list
Filtering Statistics
- Use the time range picker at the top
- Options: All time, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last year

Managing Your Subscription
- Open iOS Settings
- Tap your Apple ID
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Find "Debt Tracker"
- Manage or cancel your subscription
Subscription Renewal
- Subscriptions automatically renew
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account
Troubleshooting
Reminders Not Working
- Check notification permissions:
- iOS Settings > Debt Tracker > Notifications
- Ensure notifications are enabled
- Verify the debt has a due date set
- Ensure reminders are enabled for the debt
- Check that the debt is not marked as settled
Data Not Syncing
- Debt Tracker uses local storage (SwiftData)
- Data is stored on your device
- To back up: Use iCloud backup or device backup
App Crashes or Freezes
- Force close and reopen the app
- Restart your device
- Update to the latest version
- If issues persist, contact support
Can't Add a Payment
- Ensure the debt exists and is not deleted
- Check that amount is greater than 0
- Verify all required fields are filled
Installment Not Creating Payment
- When marking an installment as paid, a payment is created automatically
- Check the "Payments" section to see the new payment
- If missing, try marking the installment as unpaid, then paid again
Privacy & Security
Data Storage
- All data is stored locally on your device
- No data is sent to external servers
- Your financial information remains private
Permissions
- Notifications: Required for reminder functionality
- You can disable notifications in iOS Settings

General Questions
Q: Is my data backed up?
A: Data is stored locally. Back up your device via iCloud or iTunes to preserve your data.
Q: Can I use the app offline?
A: Yes. The app works offline; no internet connection is required.
Q: Can I export my data?
A: Currently, data export is not available. This feature may be added in future updates.
Q: Does the app support multiple currencies?
A: Yes. You can set different currencies for each debt.
Q: Can I track debts in different currencies?
A: Yes. Each debt can have its own currency. Note: The app does not convert between currencies automatically.
Subscription Questions
Q: What happens after my free trial ends?
A: You can choose a weekly or annual subscription to continue using all features.
Q: Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
A: Yes. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid charges.
Q: Will I lose my data if I cancel?
A: No. Your data remains on your device. You can resubscribe anytime to regain access to premium features.
Q: Do subscriptions auto-renew?
A: Yes, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Refund requests are handled by Apple. Contact Apple Support for subscription refunds.

Q: How many debts can I track?
A: With a premium subscription, there is no limit.
Q: Can I set multiple reminders for one debt?
A: Currently, reminders are sent one day before and on the due date. More options may be added in future updates.
Q: Can I share debts with others?
A: Currently, sharing is not available. This feature may be added in future updates.
Q: How do installments work?
A: Installments are planned future payments. When marked as paid, they automatically create a payment record and update the remaining balance.
Q: Can I edit past payments?
A: Currently, you can delete and recreate payments. Direct editing may be added in future updates.
